The Flying Winemaker Eddie McDougall is revolutionising the way food and wine is consumed and enjoyed across Asia.
In his brand new series from TLC, Eddie will discover unorthodox and unique methods for growing quality grapes in new environments and teach local communities the secrets to pairing wines with local dishes, in ways that have never been done before. From markets and food stalls to restaurants and even in people’s homes, Eddie will reveal combinations that can be replicated in kitchens around the globe.
Follow him as he steps out of his world-famous Hong Kong wine gallery, ‘The Flying Winemaker’, into China, India, Thailand, Japan, Taiwan, Vietnam, Bali and Australia in search of unique wine production and top-class varieties that the world has yet to discover.

It was love at first sip for award-winning winemaker Eddie McDougall, when he first tried an expensive Alsatian Pinot Blanc as a 19-year-old student waiting tables in Australia. He then went on to get a Postgraduate Diploma of Wine Technology and Viticulture from the University of Melbourne.
Passionate about bringing good wine to Asia, Eddie strongly believes in the power of wine as the social glue in bringing people together. Along with his innovative and critically-acclaimed wines, Eddie McDougall is changing the wine landscape and breaking down the barriers for Asian wine drinkers. When not making wine, Eddie is also a wine judge, columnist, TV personality, and founder of one of Asia's most dynamic wine companies, The Flying Winemaker, all in one tall order. To do all this before the age of 35, Eddie can be summed up in three words: energetic, passionate, and stubborn.
Outside of the wine world, Eddie can be found with his family, coaching rugby and cricket, or in the kitchen cooking for friends. While a man of many talents, he is terrible at anything that requires standing on a board (e.g. skateboarding, surfing, snowboarding) or being in the cold.

Nick KoE-Commerce Manager
Initially a complete wine rookie interning while only knowing the colour difference between red and white wines, Nick now heads the newly created E-Commerce Department, taking lead of TFW’s brand spanking new website.
The resident veteran, Nick has been under The Flying Winemaker’s wing for three years, previously as part of the Ops Team. He’s done brief stints down under at Deep Woods Estate in Margaret River, Australia to get his hands dirty during harvest.
Having attended the University of Nottingham in the UK, Nick’s number one wish is for Nando’s to make it to Hong Kong but makes do with supermarket-bought sauce. Along with Kyle, Nick is a professional at playing wine box tetris to maximize space in the office. While good at many things, his kryptonites are backflips and writing tasting notes (though luckily neither are things required of him on a regular basis).
Favourite wines: an oaky Chardonnay and Tawny Port are the ways to his heart.
Kyle OosterbergSouth China Market Manager
South China Market Manager
Kyle is the South China Market Manager and resident Wine Dude (when Eddie the boss isn’t around). A combination of outgoing and quirky, learning about wine with Kyle is the best combination of fun and educational. With a genuine love of teaching and sharing his wine passion with people, wine education at The Flying Winemaker is the furthest thing from textbook learning.
Discovering the wonders of wine on a holiday job at the tender age of 16, Kyle began his journey at the prestigious and award-winning Spier Wine Farm in Stellenbosch, South Africa. Experienced in all aspects of wine, Kyle has been involved in wine production, working vines during harvest, to marketing and teaching, representing wineries at trade events and educating visitors in the tasting room.
When away from work, Kyle moonlights as Batman after a few beers, but can also be found near any large body of water as his other passions are surfing and the ocean. His weakness: working with computers and any technology past 1990.
Favourite wines: Chenin Blanc for white wines and Pinot Noir for red

This kiwi was born and raised in Middle-earth. Nicole studied Wine Science at the University of Auckland on the beautiful Waiheke Island.
Since graduating, she has been harvest hopping around the world. Completing vintages in Marlborough, Napa Valley, Hunter Valley, Ashikaga and Auckland.
Having written about her travels and winemaking experiences overseas on her personal blog, she now writes educational blog articles for the website, as well as helping out at some of the events.
With her free time, she likes to find cheap eats around Hong Kong and spend time outdoors. Somehow she is always hungry and has convinced her family and friends that she has a second stomach for dessert.
